People-centric Power Reform

As one of the world’s fastest-growing economies, India is navigating the dual imperatives of achieving net-zero emissions and meeting increasing energy demand. Electrification of the load is the key enabler of this transition.
Vision
To create a people-centric electricity system that treats customers as the most important stakeholder in the system.

Objective

Our objective is to work closely with the government, regulators, utilities, private sector, and community stakeholders to enable clean, reliable, efficient, and affordable electricity supply. The aim is to facilitate the co-creation of an informed, engaged, and empowered electricity consumer who can actively participate in the planning, designing, and implementation of a futuristic power sector. A participative approach will accelerate the clean energy transition towards equitable growth aligned with customers’ social and economic needs.

Our strategic pillars include the creation of

  • Participative energy systems – From delivering power to empowering people
Citizens and communities participate in planning and decision-making. Structured and regular engagement enhances trust and confidence, enabling and accelerating the energy transition.
  • Future-ready networks – From grid growth to resilience and reliability
Customers want a reliable and affordable supply. The adoption of resilient design and technologies coupled with local supplies improves reliability and affordability while reducing climate vulnerability and market volatility.
  • Consumers to prosumers – From one-way supply to two-way collaboration
Enabling customers to participate and save through innovative behavioural and financial nudges that value energy shifts, decentralized energy generation, and cleaner options such as electric mobility and induction cooking, among others.

These changes, working together, can unlock new forms of participation, improve the willingness to pay, and accelerate the adoption of clean energy, thus contributing to India’s broader decarbonization and development goals.
